ADN’Ckrystal Minilab LP + 7inch Anna Logue Records 013

17,90 Euro

ADN’ CKRYSTALL is Érick Moncollin (aka Dr. Strange), an artist from France and truly a pioneer in electronic music since the mid-70’s. Already in 1976, he was jamming with Vangelis and Tim Blake in Paris, and he was also testing the KORG MS20 in its flat prototype version (and is still owning and using a MS10 prototype today!). In 1982, he released his first album “Jazz’mad”. The unique weirdness and brilliance of this album is unequalled and a class of its own. Érick never stopped playing and recording electronic music, but, of course, styles changed over the years. In late 2006, “Jazz’mad” was nearing its 25 years anniversary, and Érick recorded a sister album to it - in “Jazz’mad” style, of course! LP with '7, 400 copies

Erick "CKrystall" Moncollin AKA “Dr. Strange” is active in art from the late 70's until today. In 1982 he released his first album “Jazz Mad” which is an undisputed masterpiece of electronic music. During the years he developed his style in music, drawing and performances but despite all he never changed. 2008 appears productive for Erick. Earlier this year he released the "Minilab" 12"/7" combo on Anna-logue records and Clogsontronics presents 3 new born tracks. The 7" vinyl EP is accompanied by a mini CD containing the same tracks. To emphasize his 30 year activity in art in 2007 he decided to finalize the drawing of a poster he started in 1977. A high quality full-color reproduction in big A1 format is included with this Clogsontronics package. COD-ADN' is limited to 450 hand-numbered copies.

Alone Fossilzed in concrete LP Treue um Treue 012
15 Euro
Created as an attempt to document an alternative history (or shall we say another dimension) of popular electronic music, ALONE from Belgrade have been active both as a performing and recording project since 1994 and already have to their credit numerous tape and CDR releases, including 5 full-length albums. Their style, eluding any pre-conceived categorisation, is a unique brand of high-tech electro-wave, allying the pathos and weirdness of KIRCHOHMFELD, the complexity and killing beat-programming of LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS and the unpredictability of PIERRE NORMAL. TREUE UM TREUE is very proud to present ALONE’s first ever vinyl release, a selection of 9 tracks spanning a period of almost 12 years, from the first demos down to the latest album. Definitely pop but never easy, futurist and neo-romantic at times, ALONE’s music remains through the years as unfamiliar and utterly compelling as the post-apocalyptic landscapes it tells us about. Like a voice from the outer world, ALONE takes us to the nexus in time and space where each may find their Golden Path; 318 copies

Bioconstructor (Биоконструктор) 7inch Baran Records 003
8 Euro
Bioconstructor should be truly considered the godfathers of soviet synth pop and one of the first bands in USSR who used only electronic & synth equipment for their music. The band was formed in 1986 in Moscow and shortly managed to develop their unique “techno-romantic” style and vision. They also gave birth to the famous russian band “Technologiya”, which later got national fame and recognition. Despite their successful concert activity all around Soviet Union only one tape album was recorded. Some tracks from this album (with an altered sound) were released in 1989 on a split LP with a band “Farewell, Youth!” on the USSR’s only major label Melodiya. A year later Bioconstructor split, but shortly afterwards the former leader and vocalist of the band, Alexandr Yakovlev, transformed this project into Bio — a techno-pop group which are active until today. This unique record is in a certain way a representational release. It includes a self titled track by Bioconstructor and another powerful one — “Teletourism”. Audio was taken from original tapes from Alexandr's personal archives. Limited to 320 copies.

Borghesia Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti LP Dark Entries 010
18 Euro
Borghesia is an electronic music group from Ljubljana, Slovenia, created in 1982 by Aldo Ivancic and Dario Seraval who were members of the alternative theater troupe FV-112/15. Along with Laibach, Borghesia is the most successful band from the territory of former Yugoslavia who launched the activist movement and managed to turn sexual freedom into an important political issue by creating the New Slovenian Art scene. After two cassette-only releases the band recorded their debut vinyl LP Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti (“Love Is Colder Than Death”) during the winter of 1983-84. The band was eager to use early sampling techniques to construct tracks from cut up radio noises and movie dialogue. They developed their own brand of EBM (Electronic Body Music) that combined symphonic synthesizers (Korg PolySix), funky basslines, military drum beats (Roland TR-808) and harsh, crisp sequenced rhythms that repeat in trance-like loops (Roland TB-303). All songs from Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti are sung/recited in Croatian and use the imagery of the prohibited, tabooed and repressed. Equal parts Chris & Cosey, Cabaret Voltaire, Art of Noise and Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies.

CARMODY were Andrea Lesmo (synthesisers, tapes, bass, guitar) and Alberto Ramella (vocals) with the some help from Massimiliano Casacci (guitar - nowadays in Subsonica and running the Casasonica Studios) at the later stage of their existence. They came from Torino, Italy, and were mates of Monuments and Chromagain, also following a similar musical path with predominant synthesisers and drum machines (Boss DR-55, Korg KPR-77, Roland TR-909) along with some sparse guitars here and there. They recorded from 1981 to 1985 and issued three incredibly rare demo tapes. “A Better Spider” compiles the best tracks from those tapes, bringing you some of the best electropop/electrowave music ever coming out of Italy. 1000 copies, first 500 copies include a signed photo

Chromagain Any colour we liked LP / CD Anna Logue Records / Mannequin

CHROMAGAIN were Luca Pastore (bass, guitar, synthesiser, lyrics, backing vocals), Silvio Ferrero (synthesisers) and Davide Bassino (vocals, lyrics) from Torino, Italy, and was formed in 1982. CHROMAGAIN had two other singers (at first Riccardo Acuto, then Danilo ‘Dana’ Barbero) before Davide Bassino joined as the main vocalist and core member. They started as a post-punk outfit in 1982, then evolving to one of the top-notch Italian electronic dark wave bands. The influence of Joy Division/New Order is inevitable, the playful and melodic bass and lots of synthesisers form the backbone to their songs. In 1985 they released their only vinyl mini-LP “Any Colour You Like” (Supporti Fonografici, SF 004; this label was also home of the similar sounding Weimar Gesang) which was recorded at TKS studio together Mauro Tavella and Andrea Costa of MONUMENTS fame, so no wonder you may recognize some similarity (the Simmons drum machine on those recording sessions, DX-7 synthesiser, etc.). The mini-LP had five tracks ranging from the rather most Italian dark wave sounding “Satisfied” to the up-beat track “Spot”, from the dark wave killer “Killing Dome” (oh that bass… this is for the goth clubs) to the hauntingly beautiful ballad “After the Clouds” and finally to their most New Order-ish track “Season of Steel”. “Any Colour You Like” has been a highly sought-after and expensive rarity ever since and a re-issue was more than overdue, so here is “Any Colour We Liked”, a retrospective compilation of CHROMAGAIN’s works: The vinyl version of “Any Colour We Liked” includes the complete and remastered mini-LP “Any Colour You Like”, plus “Wake Up” (a different version to the one previously released on the “Danza Meccanica – Italian Synth Wave 1982-1987” LP/CD compilation, MNQ 005/ITN 012), “Ethnicbox” from the “Tracce” LP compilation (1984, Shirak, CNW 8440) plus a previously unreleased Dub Instrumental version of “Season of Steel” and artwork by Mushy (Valentina Fanigliulo), thus covering their later phase from 1984/85 with Davide on vocals. The digipak-CD version comes with a different artwork (by Steve Lippert) and an additional six bonus tracks covering all their recordings back to 1982 including a demo version of “Killing Dome”, an alternative early ‘whistle’ version of “Spot” and the tracks featuring the other two singers, Riccardo and Dana.

DILEMMA was Klaus Hahn and Christoph Schaller, originally from Viersen, Germany. Out of a deep admiration for rough early 80’s minimalistic electrobands like DAF, Portion Control or The Klinik they themselves started early to create some weird tracks with borrowed synthesisers, found metal parts and whatever did create some noise. They recorded around seven tapes in between 1986 and 1990, and made vinyl appearances on “Christmas EP” (7” on Dirk Ivens’ Body Records) as well as on “VA – Forms of Elektronik Body Music” (LP on Impuls Records). Also they supported The Klinik on a tour in 1989. 500 copies, first 250 copies include hand numbered and signed b/w photo, the other 250 copies include the hand numbered photos, but unsigned

Dutch angstpop (dark and slow synth pop) act Distel (also active as drone/experimental act Hadewych) was already present on the compilation Radio Resistencia. This is the real debut release. Dolina LP Treue um Treue 016
15 Euro
Long overdue debut album of the Franco-Belgian electronic trio. While their music undeniably carries the heritage of French Cold Wave - think DIE BUNKER and TRISOMIE 21 - their synth ethics are more akin to those of David Harrow or N.O.’s Gillian Gilbert. With their brothers in arms PIERRE NORMAL they share a taste for carefully arranged lyrics and electronics, but if their take on French Chanson is equally synth-driven, it is also far more sombre, flirting at times with Angst Pop and even Bat Cave. Powerful anthems, ghostly waltzes and chilling sweet-sour ballads, served by male and female vocals in French and English, haunt the grooves of this eponymous first LP, which reveals the band as one of the spearheads of the Cold Synth-Wave renaissance.

Now it is time to release the first tape “Via Del Latte” from 1982 on vinyl for the first time; 18 tracks, 325 copies

While owing a fair bit to the ever-towering presence of Giorgio Moroder, Electrosexual takes the euro-disco template and compresses it into a sexualized, motorik beat with Mz Sunday Luv crooning seductively over the title track. Elsewhere on the 12" there's disco bangers in 'more than my time' and tracks like 'discolution' show of Electrosexual's masterly editing and sampling skills.

Eleven Pond Bas Relief LP Dark Entries Records
19 Euro
The reissue of the debut album by Eleven Pond. The Rochester, NY band only released a single LP in their time together before dissolving into obscurity. Their sound–a merging of post punk, dark dance and synthpop full of melodic arrangements–reflected the originality of gifted songwriters who met in art school with a shared interest in 4AD and Factory Records. The recordings on this release comprise the band’s entire recorded output and the LP includes a 2009 redesign by Jeff Gallea of Eleven Pond: 11×11 cardstock lyrics/artwork sheet, 2 Eleven Pond postcards and 1 Dark Entries Sticker. Eleven Pond officially parted ways in 1987 but nearly a quarter-century later these recordings prove how vital they remain.

Europa - La Última Emoción! Dark Entries (USA) LP

Europa was a short-lived synthpop group from Valencia, Spain formed in 1980 by Julio “Nexus” Pastor (synthesizers), Alfonso Aguado (vocals, guitar), Lino Oviaño (vocals, drum machine), and José Luis Macias (synthesizers). The quartet championed the use of synthesizers, drum machines and other polyphonic gadgets in a city that was stuck in the throws of progressive rock. They recorded and released their only album La Última Emoción in 1981 on cassette, released by DAI (Division Avanzada Independiente) a label interested in bands “capable of building electronic sounds from drum machines, sequencers, synths and effects, rather than conventional instruments like guitars and basses.” The original issue of La Última Emoción was a single-sided cassette and limited to 500 copies. Shorty after their debut release the band would switch their name to Última Emoción releasing an EP in 1983 and an album in 1984 before breaking up All songs have been

Three years after the “Nervous Split”, Fiendish Fib return to TuT/RuR with a retrospective LP, the outcome of a long search into the depths of the Franco-German duo’s secret tape-archives. Here are 22 songs of DIY subterranean post-punk, dada lo-fi art-rock, state of the art tape industrial, home-made teen-horror-movie soundtracks, potlatch drinking symphonies, darkly alienated proto-techno and sheer bat’n’roll insanity. A 50 minutes trip down Fiendish Fib’s memory mine, which takes us back to the days of tape-overdub abuse, radios turned guitar effects, MS 10 bleepadelica and vintage beat box worshipping; 22 tracks, 309 copies

It all started as a joke at a party. How would it be to create a French-singing, French-themed band called France? Music-wise, it would have to be 80s of course. With Telex and Kraftwerk as ultimate references... Well, there will always be people who can’t take a joke. People like Henning Specht (Fiendish Fib, Hypnolove), François Remigi (Abberline) and Pierre Gastou (Fiendish Fib). Together, they decided to turn this unlikely project into solid reality. The result is a unique mixture of pulsating Italo Disco, revisited French Touch and synth-driven Chanson, where romanticism and dry wit collide. A first tour de France, which is also a tour de force, with four mind-blowing dance-floor killers. 4 tracks, 500 copies

Franck (Just Franck) The brutal wave LP Wierd Records USA
18 Euro
the debut album from Frank(just Frank) from Paris, France entitled The Brutal Wave. The Brutal Wave draws from many rich traditions of US and UK guitar driven wave, minimal synth, early black metal and new indie rock from Brooklyn respectively - layering lush washes of atmospheric anglophilic guitars above a warmly orchestral analogue synth and drum machine fueled minimal electronic backdrop. Equally of disparate origins are the band members themselves, Chris was born in New Jersey and grew up with half-Indian Kirti in the South of France, although both were schooled in London. Despite such varied influences and backgrounds, Frank(just Frank) indeed proudly embrace the French pop musical tradition and present a freshly recontextualized version of the french cold wave sound, which might well be most appropriately called ‘La Vague Froide Moderne’ in 2010.

HERO WOUTERS is a Dutch artist who has been active since 1950. Through the years he has been involved in many (music) projects. His work in the field of electronic music ranges from synthpop to experimental music. Some people might know him from his collaborations with The Legendary Pink Dots and Edward Ka-Spel. Other people might know him from his contributions to the obscure Contactdisk vinyl series or his appearance on the legendary Dutch Ding-Dong tape label. Featured on this LP is work by Hero Wouters from 1982, 1984, and 1986. Most of the material was written for a Dutch film ('Een zaak van Leven en Dood') and a theatre play ('Laios'). The music has been (partly) released on cassette on Hero's own label Herophone. Now it is for the first time available on vinyl. Jeff & Jane Hudson Flesh 2 LP Dark Entries 015
24 Euro
Dark Entries and Captured Tracks have teamed up to re-issue the debut album Flesh by Jeff & Jane Hudson expanded with an extra LP of singles and EP material. Jeff & Jane Hudson are a husband/wife duo from Boston who got their start in the art punk band The Rentals in 1977. The Rentals broke up in 1980 and Jeff & Jane relocated to Manhattan where they opened for Suicide and quickly signed with No Wave label Lust/Unlust. Their first single No Clubs was released in late 1980 and showcased a lo-fi avant garde all synthesizer band. The World Trade EP came next in 1981, expanding their brand of post-nuclear electronic pop. Their vocals qualities were distinct; Jeff quivery and drug-addled while Jane more detached and icy.
The duo reached their pinnacle with 1982′s seminal Flesh. Perhaps one of the United States biggest achievements in the entire “synth” movement of the 80s. The music was electro-pop employing early Roland synths and the TR-808 drum machine. Jeff’s lyrics flirted with technology and politics, while Jane wrote about cultural and psychological situations. Completely self produced by the band, the record has since been oft-cited as a groundbreaking and pivotal LP of the post-punk era, who’s original copies are now heavily coveted by collectors. Completing the discography is the Special World 7″ released in 1983 before the band emigrated back to Boston and stopped recording and performing. LP 1 is the Flesh LP and LP 2 features the No Clubs and Special World singles plus the World Trade EP. Each double LP set comes in a gatefold sleeve with unreleased photos, original artwork and a lyrics sheet. The front cover is a photo by Mark Morrisroe, downtown NY 80s punk and art photographer. This the first time since the original issue that Flesh is reappearing on vinyl format and the first wide-scale digital and CD release these recordings have yet to see. All LPs come with a free digital download card!

Ever since their debut from 2003 Black Ice has been among the most interesting and adventurous bands in the contemporary post-punk scene. Originally taking their cues from old school batcave music the band has evolved through the years and defined a style of their own. What is still at the heart of it all is their explicit artistic vision and will to produce sounds defying rigid genre or scene definitions. In 2009 Black Ice appeared on the Radio Resistencia compilation on Enfant Terrible. At the end of 2010 a new album was released on cd and digitally in America. Two of the tracks from that album are part of this new vinyl / artifact release. Band member Kelly Correll Brown is also known as a visual artist. Two of her drawings are printed in small limited editions of 75 copies each. With these drawings comes a crystal clear 7 inch vinyl record with with hand stamped labels. Cool Italian dudes Avant! recently released a 7” by German Cassetten 82/Hot Wave outfit Krysmopompas. The a-side, GeSa, is a line drawing of the graceful movements traced on the dusty floor of an abandoned hall by a mechanical bride and an electrical groom as they orbit around each other in their clockwork ballet while a crooning ghost dressed in an ill-fitting tuxedo provides dada admonitions from his pulpit. It sounds grainy, derelict, metallic and forsakenly beautiful like all the best German post-punk.

The three-headed musical creature La Chatte was born in 2003 inParis, formed by Vava Dudu, a pluridisciplinary artist, Stéphane Argillet aka Stereovoid, visual and sound artist member of the French collaborative France Fiction, and Nikolu, a polymorphous musician. Their music, a kind of post-punk electro-zouk, is ryhthmic, dark, distorted, strident and chocolate-flavored. Renowned for their head blowing performances, the band has remained so far really discrete with its discography focussing on live collaborations with the likes of vivid astro focus or Voin de Voin for instance, crossing roads all over Europe.

Occupy These Terms is the second single from Martial Canterel's new album You Today. The A side is an aggressively raw uptempo dancefloor track backed by a fiercely melodic hook in the vain of 'Windscreen' and so many classic MC trax. 'The Case' is a moody midtempo song available exclusively as a B-side on this release.

Martial Canterel is definitely one of the most talented artist in electronic underground music of our time, beeing the pioneer and instigator of what has now become a new movement of minimal electronic bands in the United States. With several albums on his back and deeply related to Wierd Records, Sean McBride is also the vintage controlled mind of Xeno & Oaklander. Tobias Bernstrup is a swedish contemporary artist working with videos, interactive works, live performances and electronic music, mixing electro pop, italo disco and some darker synth moments. Several of his songs from videos and performances have been released by museums, galleries art institutions on CD or vinyl. 300 copies, original art-cover from Tobias Bernstrup

Martial Canterel You today 7inch Wierd Records USA
8 Euro
the first 7" single for the title track off of the forthcoming new full-length album from Martial Canterel entitled You Today. Since his first live performances in 2002, Sean McBride, aka Martial Canterel (who also performs as half of the duo Xeno & Oaklander), has produced a rich catalog of self-released and limited edition LPs, cassettes, and compilation tracks. The carefully crafted, private, raw, and often feverishly aggressive 'minimal synth' sound he has pioneered has been a pillar influence for the Brooklyn minimal electronics scene and and beyond. You Today incorporates bright, urgent melodies that snake and and swagger between major and minor keys, emanating a subtle melancholic darkness and a rhythmic, militant propulsion keeping things moving against all odds. Thoughtful yet distinctly danceable and infectious, the two songs on this gem of a disc are the apex of McBride's icily idiosyncratic oeuvre.

new album by Martial Canterel entitled You Today. Merging the influences of the first wave of relatively unknown minimal electronic bands in northern Europe, and seminal industrial noise bands such as Throbbing Gristle and SPK, with the smoothly stylish songcraft of early British New Wave, Martial Canterel records and performs using analogue synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines exclusively. Thoughtful yet distinctly danceable and infectious, this record is the apex of McBride's icily idiosyncratic sound.

METRO DECAY was Yannis Maniatis (drums), KP Mastoris (synths & bass) and Antonis Maniatis (guitar & vocals) founded in Athens,Greece, in 1981. They signed with Creep Records, probably Greek’s only relevant label for electronic, dark wave and goth music. They released the a 7” and the LP "Ypervasi" (Creep 05, 1984). The still young Athenian label Eirkti has now re-released the 7”, finest dark wave with lovely lead guitars, real drums and electronic percussion, a synth sequence replacing the bass, and male vocals in Greek, 800 copies.

Miligram Retreat Falun Gong LP Enfant Terrible
17,5 Euro
Milligram Retreat from Holland is a collaboration between electronic music producer Maurice Hermes and visual / performance artist Renée van Trier. They first appeared on the Kamp Holland compilation (Enfant17). “Falun Gong” is their official debut album. With their music Milligram Retreat brings back experiment and artistic value in a style of music that is otherwise mostly hollow and without any cultural relevance today. The careful crafted minimalistic sound sculptures go from poppy to noisy and from beat orientated to creepy ambient pieces. While working in the tradition of 1980’s elektro pioneers and proto new wave acts Milligram Retreat are a product of this day and age. There are hints of Ende Shneafliet and Doxa Sinistra in their music and also some Berlin 80’s touches are evident. Still they never look back too far as they rather destroy the past to build it up again to their own likings.

In 1984, the MONUMENTS, consisting of Andrea Costa and Mauro Tavella from Torino, Italy, released their only official record, a mini LP called “Age” comprising six incredibly fantastic electropop tracks. MONUMENTS were already formed in 1981 and a couple of demos were recorded which never saw the light of day, but were only given to a few friends. Their nature is a bit more rough and never drift towards the more commercial Italo synth pop. So what you get on this CD is indeed an essential retrospective compilation album of one of Italy’s pioneering underground electronic music acts. CD with 17 tracks, 500 copies

Nosztalgia Direktíva from Hungary released before under a different alias on the now defunct but still legendary Invasion Planete Records label from France. OGI LP Dark Entries

Originally released in 1980 on EMI France, the OGI LP (OH-JEE-EYE) is the work of Hungarian-born Peter Ogi (pronounced as “ohgee”). Peter Ogi obtained formal education in music composition at the Budapest Music Academy and quickly thereafter formed the very early Hungarian punk outfit, the Spions. Though never documented on tape, the Spions were considered very important in the Hungarian music scene. In the late 1970s, Peter began traveling back and forth between Paris and London where he worked together with legendary producer of the Sex Pistols, Malcolm McLaren. Their collaboration was integral to the creation of the OGI LP. It was recorded in Autumn 1980 at Pathé Marconi Studios, Boulogne. The album was composed by Peter Ogi with lyrics written by Malcolm McLaren on over half of the tracks.

Parade Ground The Golden Yeras LP Dark Entries 018
18 Euro
Parade Ground has always been the duo of brothers Jean-Marc and Pierre Pauly from Brussels, Belgium formed in 1981. Taking cues from Post-Punk, Coldwave, Dada and Surrealism, Parade Ground channeled suffering, tension and rage through pulsing synthesizers, skeletal guitar, severe bass and Jean-Marc’s expressive vocals as the most melodic and emotional instrument. The Golden Years is an 11-song, career-spanning collection of Parade Ground’s long out-of-print 7” and 12” singles as well as rare compilation tracks from the pioneers of emotional body music created during 1982-1988. Parade Ground first appeared on the Nationale Rockmeeting LP in 1982, striking straight to the heart with the passionate plea “I Shut My Eyes.” Later that year the brothers met Daniel B. and Patrick Codenys of Front 242 beginning a collaborative partnership that continues to present day. In 1983 they released their debut 3-song 7” EP Moan On The Sly on the New Dance label, musically a hybrid of Joy Division and Fad Gadget. 1984 brought further explorations into the world of electronic body music with the 3-song Man In A Trance EP and 2 tracks on the live concert compilation Mask Promotion both records released on Front 242′s Mask Music label. The following year the single Took Advantage/Moral Support 12” was released incorporating then, state-of-the-art modular synthesizers programmed by Daniel B. and back-up vocals from Flo Sullivan (A Formal Sigh, Shiny Two Shiny). Then in 1987 the brothers collaborated with Colin Newman of British post-punk band Wire, who produced and lent his vocals, guitars and keyboards to two songs (“Moans“/”Action Replay”) while Daniel B. produced flipside “Gold Rush” on the Dual Perspective EP that stands alongside 80s anthems from Tears for Fears, Modern English, Echo & The Bunnymen. Finally in 1988 their debut album Cut Up was released on Play It Again Sam Records and featured the singles Strange World and Hollywood. In 1993 the brothers wrote and composed the vocals on two Front 242 albums Up Evil and Off. After 15 years of silence the boys released their second album Rosary in 2007 and continue to write new material and tour with their extensive catalog of dark dance classics.

Renée van Trier Wow us all away C30-Cassette Efant Terrible
8 Euro
Next to being part of Milligram Retreat, a collaboration with Maurice Hermes, Renée van Trier is active as a visual and performance artist. On the occasion of her solo exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum 's-Hertogenbosch in Holland her solo debut album is released in the form of this artifact. The album "Wow Us All Away" is a selection of careful picked pieces that are part of the characters Van Trier has brought to life for her performances. This album is both an overview of her work up till now as a story on its own. It is a story about the world around as seen through the eyes of a child, or to be more precise through the eyes of an adult with a childish perception. Musically this takes shape in raw electronic pieces with hints of Neue Deutsche Welle that refer to the best work of Malaria!, some Dadaistic improvisations and undefined free sounds. Laurie Anderson is never that far away and a hint of Yoko Ono is also to be found in some pieces. With "Wow Us All Away" Van Trier shows she is an upcoming multi-talent. 200 copies

The word is on the streets that they have never performed on stage & that they have already split. luckely they managed to rehearse enough songs to cram them all on this 40 minute tape. Scorpion Violente Überschleiss LP Avant! Records
13,50 Euro
New mindless electro minimalism from France, part of the whole crew with the logo (I suppose it is called “La Grande Triple Alliance Internationale de l’Est,” an umbrella operation for A.H. Kraken, the Anals, the Feeling of Love and related parties). It took a few listens to grok whether this duo was taking the piss, but there is a method here, even if it’s one that sets the drum pattern apart from the speed of the notes played on the synth, either to disorient, or to show the listener that they don’t know/don’t care how to make it work like everybody else. That little difference is what makes “Roma Violente,” a long-ish, static disco-minimal melody into the serious track that it is. Examples on the flipside are more spare and with somewhat of an industrial bend – “Mi Pute Mi Soumise” marches along with distortion and death in tow, while “Ich Kann Nicht” delivers the Germanic, stark yelling and murderous shocks you might expect from such a title. Another great record from B-D that doesn’t fit neatly into any one style or category. 500 copies

Sung in both English and Spanish, the forthcoming album is informed by Jeancarlo’s half Chilean, half Venezuelan background. Pervasive throughout the LP is an aura of dread and claustrophobia that without a doubt evokes the hot, dry, lonely landscape of suburban South Florida. Staccato du Mal’s music is rich with sonic feeling that makes for infinitely rewarding listening. Working within the confines of the minimal synth genre, Jeancarlo manages to include elements of pop, noise, and industrial that slink to the surface with each eerie listen.

Starter LP Dark Entries 016
18 Euro
STARTER was a minimal electronic/synthpop group from Switzerland, formed in 1980 by vocalist and fashion designer Francis Foss, Claudine Chirac (from fellow Swiss Wave group Grauzone) and Jet Harbour. Originally the band also included Stephan Eicher who co-wrote two songs but departed before the band recorded their debut album. STARTER began in the city of Bern when Francis, Claudine and Jet decided to create their own brand of New Wave music inspired by Gary Numan and Kraftwerk. They released their debut, self-titled album STARTER in the summer of 1981, making this summer the 30th anniversary of this long out-of-print and extremely hard to find LP!
Using early analog Roland and Korg synthesizers, STARTER’S music seamlessly merges wistful electronics from Germany’s Neue Deutsche Welle movement and powerful vocal stylings from French Chanson. Alongside their Swiss Wave contemporaries like Grauzone, Yello, Liliputt/Kleenex, STARTER created a new brand of hallucinatory ‘Techno-Pop’ made up of chopped rhythms, energetic and almost epileptic vocals that are immediately catchy and hypnotic, perfect for the dance-floor. In 1985 STARTER reformed as a duo with Francis Foss on vocals again and Gary Grey on synth/rhythm programming. Their first single “Victim” took cues from Italo Disco and Bobby Orlando’s Hi-NRG dance sounds and is the bonus track on Side B of this LP. The song “Part of You” was chosen as the lead track on the Gomma compilation CD Teutonik Disaster 2 in 2003 recruiting new fans worldwide and ushering Francis Foss to release a homemade CD-R/DVD compilation of the entire STARTER discography in 2004.

The Metronomes The Ballad of the Metronomes 2 LP + 7inch Mannequin
25 Euro
Re-release of both the LPs (“Multiple Choice” from 1980 and “Regular Guys” from 1985) plus the 2 singles seven inches “Saturday Night / Sunday Morning” and “A Circuit Like Me” from this legendary minimal synth band from Australia. The group was an integral part of the early electronic music scene in Australia and their releases have become a collector’s item in Europe, as they are mostly impossibile to find. The Metronomes first appeared in Melbourne in 1979, initial members were rock journo-synth player Al Webb, the bass player Andrew Picouleau (Secret Police, Sacred Cowboys) and the synth-pioneer Ash Wednesday, nowdays a live tour member of Einsturzende Neubauten. Al himself will admit later that Ash’s ingenuity in creating something out of very little was the key to the Metronomes sounding as ‘produced’ as they did. If their first 7’’ single “Saturday Night / Sunday Morning” came out in 1980, featuring a real metronome as rhythm section with instrumentals layered over, instead the second ‘A Circuit Like Me / Closed Circuit’ from 1980 is addice more to experimentation with drum machines, rhytm sections for both sides were recorded using a borrowed Roland CR 78. It was the first time in their compositions that a vocal had been used, courtesy of a lady called Talking Judy. The first full-lenght ‘Multiple Choice’ was recorded in the winter of 1980, using Roland Strings, a mini-Korg, some Arp synthesizers and a Boss Dr-55, a drum machine that was intensivly used by many minimal synth bands during the 80s and by legendary bands like Sisters of Mercy or New Order in their first songs. The second album ‘Regular Guys’, published in 1985, was recorded after a break in which all the members various lives and careers took left and right hand turns, surely more premeditated, as most of the songs arrived in studio already written.500 copies

Beside the usual noise and experimental projects there were also great new wave bands active in the 80's tape scene. With a few synths, a guitar and a drumcomputer THE MISZ created strange synth/wave/pop with political and nonsense lyrics. The band consisted of Dries Dekocker, Jan Van Den Broeke and friends who would accidentally pass by. Their second tape “Eddy Merckz” is a good example for the extreme high quality of the 80's cassette culture scene. The catchy sound, fine harmonies and male/female vocals made this band a remarkable milestone in european new-wave. 300 copies

TRANSPARENT ILLUSION was the brainchild of Roy Young (a pseudonym), hailing from Haverhill, Suffolk, UK. Equipped with just one synthesiser and a drum kit, he entered Octopus Studios, located in Stowupland, Suffolk, and run by Dave Hoser, in 1980/81 to record the ultimate minimal electronic music album. The original vinyl album “Still Human” and the single “Vortex” were released on Roy’s own label Vex Records but only a few copies managed to sell. The album has been carefully remastered from an original vinyl copy by Stefan Bornhorst (aka The Silicon Scientist). Two original demo recordings from 1980 have been added: “Concepts” and “Vortex”, which were taken off the original master tape by courtesy of Nicolas Delbarre and Dave Hoser. The artwork was accurately adapted from the original album by Steve Lippert. 100 copies on transparent clear vinyl, 100 copies on transparent orange vinyl, 300 copies on black vinyl

Various Artists Bay Area Retrograde (BART) Vol 1 LP Dark Entries Records
18 Euro
Bay Area Retrograde (BART) Volume 1 is Dark Entries’ first compilation of underground music from San Francisco (and the greater Bay Area) in the 1980s. Towards the end of the 70s, San Francisco experimental music clashed with the aftermath of punk and gave birth to a vibrant underground scene. By the early to mid 80s the DIY music scene of the Bay Area was a hotbed for experimental and quirky new wave, post punk, and synthpop, quite similar to New York’s No Wave scene and Berlin’s Neue Deutsche Welle. This compilation literally connects the (transit) lines between these varied musical offerings and tells the secret story of eleven forgotten Bay Area bands and contains four previously unreleased tracks on vinyl, until now.

16 Euro
Vinyl edition of Xeno & Oaklander's Vigils EP, originally self-released by the band as a limited edition CDR in 2006, here remastered with a previously unavailable bonus track. Merging the cold, cinematic aesthetics of artist Liz Wendelbo with the architectural exactitude of Sean McBride (a.k.a. Martial Canterel), Xeno & Oaklander have been the sharpest spearheads of twenty-first-century minimal synth since their formation in 2004. Using analogue synthesizers and instruments exclusively, the duo record all of their songs live in the studio, a challenge to the common practice of cut and paste recording where immediacy is often sacrificed in favor of a far-removed drag and drop electronic pop.

xex were an all-synthesizer band from South River, New Jersey who recorded their debut album group:xex in 1980. Formed when a trio of high school misfits with funny names (Waw Pierogi, Thumbalina Gugielmo and Alex Zander) teamed up with some friends from Rutgers College Performed entirely on then-state-of-the-art Arps, synths and electronic drums – no guitars anywhere – group: xex aims for the future, but comes across now like a time capsule from the deepest, darkest Reagan years. group: xex was all but forgotten until 1998, when radio DJ Tom Smith discovered it in the WFMU music library and tracked down the band members, which lead to a CD reissue in 2004 on Smack Shire Records. Just in time for the 30th anniversary of group:xex Dark Entries tracked down Waw Pierogi and restored the original master tapes with George Horn who remastered the tracks for vinyl at Fantasy Studios.
